A federal judge has granted a temporary restraining order against President Donald Trump’s attempt to roll back an unemployment compensation program that was enacted under his predecessor.

    A judge in Los Angeles on Monday denied a petition by California Republicans seeking to block the president’s effort to undo the unemployment benefits program that went into effect last year.

    The order comes in response to a complaint filed by Republican lawmakers on Jan. 28.

    It would prevent Trump from implementing the program by the end of March.

    The U.S. Department of Labor said in a statement the order is the first step in the lawsuit filed by Republicans.
